About

I didn’t find photography, photography found me!

My photography journey began when I bought an entry level Nikon D3300 DSLR camera several months before going on a vacation to New Mexico in July 2015. I knew nothing about how to use the camera so to prepare myself for the trip I began watching as many YouTube videos and reading as many books as I could on the subject. I ended up using Auto Mode for the vacation and for some time after that until I learned how to use Manual Mode. Almost from the start however, I became a passionate participant in the activity we call photography. I realized there was much more to photography than I thought, we “clicked” as the saying goes and I was hooked!

Photography is great stress relief. It is freeing. It is more than just taking a picture, it is creating art! It is expressing what I see and what I feel when I see. It is capturing that emotion and essence in a split second, of something that is fleeting, in a form that is tangible and memorialized for all time. When out taking pictures, time flies, at times it almost seems to stand still. It takes over and you get lost in the moment and for that period of time that is all that matters or exists.

Photography captures visually what is felt in the heart, things that cannot always be expressed in words. It is a thrill, sometimes it is the thrill of the chase, to capture the beautiful offerings that will avail themselves to you that day, in the moment. It is trying to capture that which is elusive. Ultimately, photography is art, art that is my own and personal to me and that which I can share with others. That is what I hope to do with this web page and my photography.
